Civil - Embraer Phenom 100

Issue: 03-2009By José Eduardo Costas Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Embraer Executive Jets, Asia PacificIllustration(s): By Eduardo_Costas.jpg

Phenomenal
While the design takes into account passenger comfort, pilots will love the Garmin Prodigy Flight Deck 100

Evolved from a clean sheet design—simply put, designed from scratch, and not adapted from any of Embraer’s current aircraft platforms—the Phenom 100’s primary objective is to offer more value for money. With that in mind, the Phenom 100 is designed to achieve 35,000 flight cycles (or minimum 2,000 flight hours a year). Based on the MSG3 philosophy, the aircraft requires maintenance checks only every 600 hours or every 12 months (whichever comes first)—proof of its design for high utilisation, lower maintenance requirements and increased residual value. This is an unprecedented achievement for an aircraft in this category.

The Design
Conceptualised by BMW DesignWorks USA, the cabin interior boasts a modern and sleek design, handiwork of an internationally renowned interior designer. Potential customers are offered further options at customisation and can choose from six different interior colour schemes, complimented by a wide selection of exterior aircraft design choices. Practicality of the interior cannot be overlooked. Hence, the design takes into account passenger comfort, whereby seats have been fitted with off-centre headrests to accommodate the flier’s sleeping configuration. The Oval Lite™ cabin ensures that cabin space is maximised and leg room optimised—leading to a more pleasant and comfortable travel experience. Windows are also larger than any other entry level or light jet to allow for more natural light, and each passenger seat is equipped with a power outlet. The Phenom 100 also boasts the largest baggage compartment in its class—55 cubic feet which can even accommodate skis, golf bags and bulky items. It also offers a fully enclosed lavatory located at the rear of the aircraft.

Aircraft Systems & Performance
Pilots will love the Garmin Prodigy Flight Deck 100, with its next generation avionics and integration with the central maintenance computer. The cockpit design, driven by human factors, is both spacious and comfortable, and supports single pilot operation.

Capable of operating on short runways, the Phenom 100 requires only 3,400 ft takeoff length (at standard conditions) and can operate at the maximum of 41,000 ft altitude—well above commercial traffic and weather. Should customers choose the enhanced take off option, the take off distance can be shortened by 300 ft, allowing the Phenom 100 to be operated on shorter runways than originally planned, or to enjoy extended range.
