Star Air - Embraer E175 jet

Star Air, India’s most consistent regional airline, announced a major milestone today with the induction of its 10th aircraft, an Embraer E175 jet, into its growing fleet. Starting May 15th, Star Air will add 15 new sectors to its schedule, expanding its operations to 50+ daily services across 24 destinations.

Looking ahead, Star Air plans to add four more Embraer E175 Aircraft to its Fleet by March 2026 and operate a fleet of 25 aircraft by March 2027, aiming to connect over 50 destinations across India within the next two years. Importantly, Star Air is the aviation arm of the Sanjay Ghodawat Group (SGG), whose strong financial backing lends critical support and stability to the airline’s ambitious expansion strategy.

“While aviation sector is facing supply chain disruptions and expansion hurdles, Star Air’s steady, strategic growth and strong business fundamentals uniquely position us for success,” Captain Simran Singh Tiwana, CEO of Star Air.

“Our expansion aligns perfectly with our vision of connecting Real India. We are committed to sustainable, dependable growth that strengthens regional connectivity, empowers smaller cities, and fulfils the aspirations of the next billion travellers,” he added further.

Champion of UDAN - Driving Regional Growth

A proud and active participant in the Government of India’s UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) initiative, Star Air is the only regional airline to have completed six years of uninterrupted operations, and has carried nearly 1.5 million passengers while maintaining a robust schedule of 300 weekly flights, and set to grow further during the summer season to 350 weekly flights.

Star Air is also the only regional airline to have operated all the routes awarded to it under the UDAN scheme. Star Air’s expansion comes at a pivotal time for Indian aviation, with rising passenger demand and evolving regional dynamics. Star Air is now moving beyond its initial UDAN 5.0 routes, venturing into more commercial city pairs while staying firmly committed to its core mission of "Connecting Real India" by bridging underserved Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

Staying true to its philosophy of delivering a superior flying experience from day one, Star Air continues to offer hot food and beverages onboard across all its services. Its fleet, comprising Embraer E175 and E145 aircraft, features a 2x2 seating layout, with ta wo-class cabin configuration with dedicated business class and economy seating, setting a new benchmark for comfort, efficiency, and service quality in regional aviation.
