The 65' edition of Subroto Cup International Football Tournament commenced on August 18, 2026 at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Stadium in New Delhi. The opening day featured an exciting encounter in the Junior Girls (under-17) category, with Meghalaya scoring victory over Chandigarh by 2-0 in the featured match. The goal scorer from Meghalaya were Ms Genefa and Ms Wandari.
The tournament was declared open following an opening ceremony attended by Air Marshal S Sivakumar, Air Officer-in-Charge Administration and Vice Chairman, Subroto Mukerjee Sports Education Society, who was the Chief Guest. India men's national weightlifting team star Lovepreet Singh graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.
The opening ceremony featured a vibrant line-up of performances that added color and energy to the occasion. Highlights included performance by the Air Warriors Drill Team, and a cultural presentation by students of the Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute.
Addressing the gathering, Air Marshal S. Sivakumar, said, "The 65th Subroto Cup is a testament to the enduring spirit of football in India. I am confident that this tournament will not only showcase the skills of these young athletes but also inspire many more to take up the sport. I congratulate all the teams who have qualified for the tournament and wish them all the very best. May they play the game in the true spirit of sportsmanship."
Featuring 108 teams in three categories, Junior Girls (U-17), Junior Boys (U-17), and Sub-Junior Boys (U-15), the tournament is divided into eight groups per category. Group winners will advance to the knockout stages, to culminating in the tournament finals.
